Assistant Controller

SUMMARY:

JENOPTIK is currently seeking an Assistant Controller to join our Auburn Hills Team. As a member of our team, the Assistant Controller will support a business unit located within our Hommel-Etamic Division, USA and Mexico.  We are seeking a self-starter with strong communication skills, and the desire to learn and grow within our organization.  The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in forecasting and general accounting.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO):

  • Prepare forecast for sales and order entry.
  • Prepare quarterly forecasts, annual and five-year plan: income statement, balance sheet, cash flow.
  • Provide commentary on financial results, investigate variances.
  • Prepare journal entries as assigned.
  • Perform GL account reconciliations in accordance with IFRS - research and resolve discrepancies.
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing functions.
  • Support compliance requirements including tax, internal and external audits.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to support business decision-making.
  • Prepare allocations and ensure costs are recorded to the correct functional area.
  • Assist with preparation and implementation of workflows and policies.
  • Utilize ERP system data to mine information and perform analysis.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

  • Intermediate-Advanced Excel skills (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, SUMIF,IF), Word, Teams, Outlook and ERP Systems
  • Ability to work quickly with attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and aptitude to minimize reliance on error-prone manual processes
  • Professional judgement to assess and recommend solutions to issues
  • Discretion and integrity in business dealings
  • Time management and commitment to meet financial reporting and forecasting deadlines

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required for this position, CPA is a plus.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience, percentage of completion accounting a plus.
