Tax Accountant

SUMMARY:
The role of the Tax Accountant is to ensure compliance for multi-jurisdictional tax laws and regulations by managing
the preparation, filing and coordinating various tax returns and payments. This position maintains financial records,
performs monthly closings duties, and supports internal teams with tax-related questions and analysis.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO):
- Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted company policies and practices
- Responsible for Filing of State Sales/Use tax returns for multiple locations; multiple States. Ensures proper
recording of Tax liability entries to the General Ledger. Maintains supporting documentation. - Preparation and Filing of Canadian HST/GST Tax Returns. Ensures proper recording of Tax liability entries to
the General Ledger. Maintains supporting documentation. - Coordinates the estimated tax payments due to IRS and State tax authorities.
- Coordinates the estimated tax payments due to Canada Revenue Agency.
- Coordinates import GST payments due to Canada Border Services Agency
- Filing of local tax requirements (multiple locations, States).
- Gathers information and performs necessary research to complete and file US Government Census reporting.
- Analyzes General Ledger for tax variances and exceptions and prepares journal entries for month end closing.
- Answers tax and related Accounting questions by researching and interpreting data.
- Perform such other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as may be required.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required
- 3 - 5 years related work experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with ERP systems a must; SAP highly desirable
- Sales and Use Tax Experience
- Knowledge of International Accounting Standards (IFRS) a plus
- Ability to work with others in complex management matrix structure
- Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
- Must possess “soft skills”: conflict resolution and negotiation, personal effectiveness, creative problem solving,
strategic thinking, team building, and influencing skills - Expertise in dealing with people effectively and politely
