System Test Technician III

SUMMARY:

The role of System Test Technician III is to utilize advanced opto-mechanical skills and on-the-job training to test various lens assemblies and report test results to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, make updates to the related work and procedures, when necessary, as well as be the main point of contact for new assemblies and prototypes. Furthermore, it is the responsibility of the technician to uphold our testing standards to that which matches Jenoptik’s Quality Policy.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO):

▪ Assemble, align, and validate custom test fixtures.
▪ Assemble, align, and test opto-mechanical systems using interferometers, MTF benches, wavefront sensors, cameras, alignment telescopes, and other specialized test equipment.
▪ Document all necessary test results following Good Documentation Practices.
▪ Edit system test work instructions, procedures, and compliance test documents.
▪ Provide summary reports of test results and project status to program managers as well as Engineering and Operations teams.
▪ Proficiency in reading and understanding Mechanical and Optical Drawings
▪ Understand and follow document control within our Quality System
▪ Take on an expanded role in the training and development of other technicians.
▪ Share updates and data with customers when applicable.
▪ Interact with vendors for equipment support and troubleshooting.
▪ Provide management with feedback and recommendations for continuous improvement.
▪ Provide assistance to the assembly and engineering departments for troubleshooting new assemblies.
▪ Provide assistance during the testing of new assemblies and prototypes.
▪ Help maintain all lab areas with emphasis on safety and 5S and LEAN initiatives.
▪ Support and maintain compliance to ISO certifications.
▪ Accurately log time against work orders.
▪ Follow company procedures and policies.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

▪ Performs all other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

▪ High School Degree/GED is required; AA/AS or college degree is desired.
▪ More than 6 years’ experience testing optical components and systems.
▪ Advanced knowledge of MTF testing of precision optical assemblies.
▪ Advanced knowledge of wavefront testing of optical assemblies and components.
▪ Advanced knowledge of microscopes, power meters, spectrophotometers, and alignment telescopes.
▪ Advanced understanding of mechanical and optical drawings.

▪ Experience working in ESD and cleanroom environments.
▪ Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
▪ Able to use specialty software in a lab environment.
▪ A Standard Vision Test is required (Annually).
▪ Good interpersonal and communications skills.
▪ Ability to work with all team members in the department and the company word wide
▪ US Citizenship or Qualified U.S. Worker
