Supply Chain Quality Engineer

Position Summary
The Supply Chain Quality Engineer plans and directs activities concerned with development, application and maintenance of quality standards for processes, materials, and products with the JOSI supply chain with a special focus on the optical component suppliers. This position will be responsible for direct interface with suppliers to resolve quality issues.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):
- Perform quality audits, capacity analysis, and determine supplier core competencies to assure orders are placed with the capable suppliers.
- Work with suppliers to continuously improve performance, implement process controls and develop quality assurance plans.
- Act as a liaison between supplier and internal cross-functional teams to review and approve supplier exceptions or deviation waivers.
- Lead corrective action from supplier 8D’s and/or non-conformance reports.
- Work with JOSI Incoming Inspection and Engineering to develop standards and methods for inspection that mirror our methods.
- Develop suppliers in areas of Six Sigma method, Value Stream mapping, Standard Work, 5S, Kanban, and other system tools for preventative action, corrective action, and continuous improvement.
- Manage and maintain all purchasing non-conformances in the ETQ Reliance platform.
- Identify and develop a serial production “dock to stock” program with suppliers.
- Continuously monitor NCR/RTV, to minimize rejected material dollars and ensure timely disposition.
- Develop and maintain a supplier capability matrix.
- Coordinate continuous quality improvement with suppliers.
- Support the Quality Department in execution and completion of SCAR’s.
- Prepare operational review and results.
REQUIREMENTS
- BA or BS in an Engineering discipline preferred, application experience and an AA or AS can substitute
- Minimum of 5 yrs related experience
- Optical background required
- Understanding of ISO9001 standards
- Experienced with Root Cause Analysis and Lean Manufacturing tools
- Working knowledge or training in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- SAP or similar ERP system experience desired
- Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal. Comfortable presenting to and communicating with cross-functional groups at multiple levels,

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc...)
- Travel required as needed to support the business, estimated at 25%
