Overview:
The Jenoptik Internship Program is a 12-week summer program that provides interns with practical experience working on relevant projects while working with designated mentors; access to state-of-the-art equipment; a competitive package including fully funded housing; relocation reimbursement; in-house training; group activities; and potential growth opportunities.
At the conclusion of the internship, interns will be required to prepare and deliver a formal presentation of their project work to their respective department.
What You'll Do:
Technical Intern – M.Sc. Optical Engineer
- Will be integrated into a development program with a focus on optical design, optimization, and tolerancing, as part of a real engineering team.
- Will interface with assembly and system test teams to understand tools, equipment, and processes to inform a tolerancing and build plan.
- Will develop compensation and testing protocols needed for real-world design verification.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
What You'll Need:
- Must have completed a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Physics, Optics, or other related field and be enrolled in a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Optics or Photonics with a scheduled completion date no later than December 2024.
- Degree must be from an accredited university, college, or school.
- Code V, Zemax, OSLO, ASAP, FRED, design experience through graduate-level optical design courses preferred.
- Matlab, Python, IDL, or other data analysis programming language skill is desirable.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- U.S. Citizenship or Qualified U.S. Worker
Full-Time On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site full-time.
Working Conditions
- Jenoptik is a drug-free workplace, which is imperative to the health and safety of all employees.
- Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
- May occasionally work in production areas where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
- Relocation for this position is available.
Compensation & Benefits:
- SALARY RANGE: $25-26 per hour (commensurate with education and experience)
