Material Inspector

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):

• Perform visual and dimensional inspection activities of purchased parts and (primarily) metal components from suppliers against engineering drawings & purchase order requirements
• Knowledge and understanding of mechanical drawings and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
• Set-up and execute inspection programs against quality plans to operate a ZEISS Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM) with Calypso software for verification of complex, precision components
• Utilize hand held measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, drop indicators, etc.) in addition to using the CMM machine to verify part compliance
• Document, maintain, and generate inspection reports from the results measured including First Article Inspection (FAI) or Quality Inspection Plans defined by Engineering or Quality Assurance.
• Document any nonconformance observed of the material that do not meet the drawing specifications.  Notify and/or interact with appropriate personnel (Quality, Engineering, & Purchasing) for final disposition.
• Maintain identification and inspection status of components within work area and material moved to Inventory Control.
• Upholds good housing keeping practices at all times, including continuous improvements of 5S activities.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Flexible work hours including extended (overtime) hours, as needed.
• Experience in set-up and operating a ZEISS Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM) - Programming using ZEISS Calypso software a plus.
• Strong ability to read, interpret, and comprehend engineering and assembly drawings with extensive knowledge of Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Minimum two (2) years of experience in inspection or quality control (QC) systems
• Must be detail oriented and focused on verifying inspection requirements for part conformance
• Must have good computer skills including MS Word/Excel and business applications (SAP) systems.
• Possess high integrity, hardworking, organized, and a team player to complete and support delivery schedules to customers (internally and externally)
• General knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or ISO 13485 preferred.
