Assembly Technician I

SUMMARY:

The role of Assembly Technician I utilizes a moderate level of skill to assemble intricate optical-mechanical and optical-electronic assemblies.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO):

  • Assembly of moderately complex optical-mechanical and optical-electronic assemblies.
  • Knowledgeable in reading optical and mechanical drawings and schematics.
  • Voice improvements and issues affecting the productivity of the team (rework, supplies, equipment, etc)
  • Where required:
    * Perform work in Class 5 and/or Class 7 environments.
    * Maintain cleanliness requirements per assembly procedures and department Work Instructions
    * Assemble kitted parts into complete systems, strictly adhering to Assembly Procedures, applicable Work Instructions, and Assembly Drawings.
    * Measure the element center thickness of screen materials that meet the specification.
    * Measure stacked elements and adjust airspaces to populate EXCEL build sheets.
    * Inspect optics for cosmetic imperfections.
    * Ability to assess that elements being installed meet drawing specifications for surface quality per mil-spec and ISO standards.
    * Experience using various bonding compounds

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Performs all other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, some college preferred
  • Basic knowledge using Word, Excel, Outlook, and other specialty software used in a lab environment.
  • Able to Read/Write English
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to work with all team members in the department and the company-wide
  • Attention to detail.
