Advanced Systems Assembly Technician

OVERVIEW:

High level of skills acquired for assemble intricate electro-optical-mechanical assemblies using high precision instruments and alignment software.

DESIRED SKILLSETS INCLUDE (BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):

  • Ability to understand the basics of mechanical and assembly drawings
  • Ability to assess that components being installed meet drawing specifications.
  • Ability to follow a procedure to assemble complete systems
  • Ability to recognize and troubleshoot minor issues found during assembly
  • Ability to dispense and cure epoxies and other bonding agents.
  • Ability to use Excel and Word to record data into build sheets.
  • Familiarity using electro-optical-mechanical instruments and tools such as microscopes, digital volt meters, digital cameras, optical power meters, soldering irons, precision hand tools, torque wrenches, micrometers, epoxy flow dispensers, lab ovens, and/or environmental chambers
  • Experience handling, cleaning, and inspecting electrical, optical, and/or mechanical components and sub-assemblies
  • Familiarity with ESD protocols
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
  • Ability to recognize and recommend the need to make/modify tooling or fixtures to improve accuracy or efficiency a plus
  • Ability to mark-up drawings to document drawing errors or key changes in process and submit to manager for Engineering Change a plus
  • Familiarity with optics, fiberoptics, lasers, and electro-optical sensors a plus
  • Soldering certification a plus
  • Ability to read electrical schematics a plus
  • Ability to repair/replace SMD components on circuit boards a plus
  • CAD experience (SolidWorks) a plus

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Degree/GED is required (some relevant college education is desired)
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience testing and/or integrating electro-optical or opto-mechanical sub-assemblies and systems.
  • Able to Read/Write English
  • Good interpersonal and communications skills both written and oral
  • Ability to independently and as part of a team
  • Travel (potentially extended) to customer sites may be required
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Attention to detail
  • Standard Vision Test is required
