Senior Fab Technician

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):
A Senior Fab Tech is expected to perform the following additional duties and responsibilities in addition to those outlined for a Fab Tech II.
- Follow procedures that are in place and being utilized for completing orders. Support LEAN manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives while adhering to safety protocols.
- Responsible for performing in-line quality assurance processes and supporting continuous improvement.
- Responsible for supporting critical outsourced value creation process steps in production flow, responsible for working with NPI Engineering, Operations, and Quality in identifying and qualifying new outsource partners for critical value creation processing.
- Operate manual and automated semiconductor fabrication equipment including wafer saw.
- Communicate effectively with peers, engineers, and managers.
- Set-up, process, measure, inspect, and report on fabrication process status.
- PC proficient with standard computer software tools (WORD, EXEL, and POWERPOINT).
RESPONSIBILITIES (CONTINUED):
- Work with external equipment suppliers for service, parts, and support. Debug machine issues and complete minor equipment repairs as needed.
- Communicate with Management and Planning if process/equipment problems jeopardize customer commitments.
- Assisting in training junior technicians and provide assistance with technical issues.
- Coordinate and ensure efficient completion of orders from Photolithography, Etching, and Finishing.
- Develop new procedures and documentation of processes specifications for fabrication jobs.
- Assist process engineering in the improvement of existing processes and the development and qualification of new processes with limited supervision.
- Assist process engineering in the qualifications of new equipment.
- Provide manufacturing support to process engineering for Design of Experiments, data collection and documentation, and continuous improvement activities.
- Understand the role each piece of equipment in the wafer fab plays in wafer processing.
- Take leadership role in maintaining SPC programs.
- Support fab ERT program.
- Capable of working effectively in a team environment.
- Perform root cause analysis, 5 Why 8D and drive continuous improvement.
- Help drive process improvement by looking opportunities to reduce defects and improve efficiency.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- H.S. Diploma or equivalent, associate’s degree or higher-level education, preferred.
- Direct experience with the handling and processing of optical quality glass and other wafer materials.
- At least two years of experience in semiconductor or related manufacturing (Integrated circuit manufacturing, micro-optics manufacturing, MEMS manufacturing, compound semiconductor manufacturing)
- Prefer 2 years of experience operating in a class 1000 clean room, and familiarity with clean room protocol.
- Familiarity with optical inspection techniques to military or ISO standards, desirable.
- Detail oriented, driven for excellence, demonstrate excellent workmanship, good dexterity for handling high value, very fragile wafers, and optical components.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills.
U.S. Citizenship or Qualified U.S. worker.
