Platform Engineer - .NET / Azure
Bangalore, KA, IN
Job Description:
We are looking for a hands-on Platform Engineer with a strong background in the C# .NET ecosystem to take ownership of application build automation, containerization, and Azure CI/CD pipelines. In this role, you will bridge the gap between software development and automated cloud delivery—enabling our engineering teams by streamlining everything from local builds to production releases.
Unlike traditional infrastructure-only or cloud-support DevOps positions, this is a code-literate platform engineering role. While you won’t be writing user-facing product features, you will work directly with our application source code—cloning repositories, resolving .NET and Node.js build configurations and dependencies, building services from the CLI, authoring optimized multi-stage Docker containers, setting up local multi-service environments with docker-compose, and automating end-to-end CI/CD delivery targeting Microsoft Azure.
Responsibilities:
1. Build Engineering & Service Integration: Take full ownership of application source code across C# .NET and Node.js microservices. Resolve project dependencies, troubleshoot build failures, and execute CLI-based builds and packaging (dotnet build, npm run build).
2. Local Environment & Container Strategy: Lead service containerization using Docker (authoring optimized multi-stage Dockerfiles) and maintain docker-compose setups for developers to run multi-tier services and databases locally.
3. CI/CD Orchestration: Own Azure DevOps YAML pipelines to automate build, testing, container scanning, and artifact deployment for C# backend services and React frontends.
4. Platform, AKS & Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Treat infrastructure like software. Build and maintain Azure environments and manage container orchestration within Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM.
5. Security First (DevSecOps): Implement and enforce security best practices across the SDLC—including static analysis (SAST), container vulnerability scanning, dependency auditing, and secure secret management with Azure Key Vault.
6. Performance, Observability & Reliability (SRE): Optimize microservice communication, data persistence, and distributed messaging (e.g., Azure Service Bus, RabbitMQ). Implement monitoring and telemetry (Application Insights, Prometheus, Grafana) and diagnose build breaks, container networking issues, and runtime crashes alongside the engineering team.
7. Platform, AKS & Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Define, document, and maintain standardized developer environments, bridging the gap between local machine development and cloud production.
Qualifications, skills & abilities
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience), with 5–8 years of experience as a Platform/DevOps Engineer OR as a Backend Developer (.NET) with a strong secondary focus on automation and infrastructure.
- C# .NET & Architectural Literacy: Strong hands-on familiarity with C#, .NET Core/8+, project dependencies (.csproj, NuGet), and CLI build toolchains. Hands-on familiarity with Node.js and basic awareness of React for building and deploying frontend assets.
- Application Build & Container Mastery: Deep practical experience with CLI builds (dotnet), project dependencies (.csproj, NuGet), writing efficient multi-stage Docker files, and local orchestration with docker-compose.
- CI/CD & Cloud Infrastructure (MS Azure): Proven experience with the Microsoft Azure ecosystem, Azure DevOps (specifically declarative YAML pipelines), and automated provisioning via Terraform, Bicep, or ARM.
- Orchestration & Scripting: Familiarity deploying, scaling, and networking containers in Kubernetes (AKS), with strong scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
- Advanced Version Control: Proficiency in Git CLI workflows, branching strategies (GitFlow, trunk-based), hooks, and submodule/dependency management.
- The "Automation" Itch: A strong dislike for manual tasks. If you have to do it twice, you want to script it.
Desired Skills:
- Observability: Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Application Insights, or ELK.
- Modern Version Control: Advanced Git skills (branching strategies, hooks, etc.).
- Agile Mindset: Comfort working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
We offer competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and a dynamic and inclusive work environment. If you are excited about this opportunity and believe you have the skills and passion to succeed, we would love to hear from you.
