Service Technician

SUMMARY:
The Service Technician is responsible for providing hands-on and remote technical support to Hommel-Etamic customers. You will be part of an elite team of specialists who are responsible for new installations and ongoing support to existing installations in the field including troubleshooting, repair, preventative maintenance, training, and programming of Hommel-Etamic high-tech precision measuring systems. As part of the service team you will be self-motivated and will demonstrate professionalism and a positive attitude when servicing our customer needs to improve customer satisfaction, maximize customer retention, and increase profitability.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):
- Install, program, calibrate, maintain and repair our gauging systems
- Train customers in the operation, programming and maintenance of our gauging systems
- Program and run-off customer specific applications
- Troubleshoot complex electro-mechanical systems
- Perform periodic maintenance & calibrations our gauging systems in customer facilities throughout North America and internationally
- Abide by all company policies and procedures
- Complete daily time tracking and reporting
- Complete daily expense tracking and reporting
- Work to a budget
REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and adapt to changing work schedules
- Up to 90% travel
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record provided annually

- Able to read blueprints and electrical schematics
- Knowledge of geometric tolerances (GD&T)
- Accustomed to using mobile tools and applications
- Strong computer skills in word, excel and outlook
- Understanding of installing software, hardware and drivers on computer systems
- Programming experience with PLC’s (ladder logic) and/or structured text languages (e.g. C++) would be an asset
- Background in the manufacturing industry - metrology experience a definite advantage
- Strong analytical skills
- Electromechanical aptitude
- U.S. Citizenship or qualified U.S. worker
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma / GED required. Technical diploma in mechatronics, manufacturing methods or similar is preferred, college preferred
- 3 – 5 years of industrial/manufacturing experience
- Experience in a customer support role a definite advantage
