Metrology Technology Specialist

OVERVIEW:

The Metrology Technology Specialist has the desire to be become a proficient product specialist. This person will be trained on each of the different Jenoptik products and exposed to metrology products made by others. The Metrology Technology Specialist will assist with concept proposals at the time of sales, start-up of the equipment at Jenoptik, travel to support start-up at the customer site and mentors others on metrology solutions.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILIITIES (Include but not limited to):

  • Become proficient with several Jenoptik products and the ability to recommend customized solutions with the products.
  • Work with sales and operations teams to develop metrology solutions.
  • Ability to present/discuss technical information regarding the product.
  • Develop relationships with Jenoptik product development team globally for continual learning a product support.
  • Start-up and troubleshoot metrology equipment both on the Jenoptik build floor and at the customer site.
  • Assemble various key electrical and mechanical components.
  • Perform mechanical adjustments and alignments. 
  • Work with Controls Design on interface between metrology equipment and PLC (where required).
  • Support trials and runoff to the customer for application approval and customer buyoff.
  • Support Service Team with questions, training and startup support.
  • Mentor peer team members throughout multiple departments for knowledge and serviceability within the company
  • Write and provide feedback for use of manuals, training or other technical documents.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

KEY DELIVERABLES:

  • Successful running systems as sold to the customer and to customer specifications.

 

PROFILE:

  • Should possess strong basic math skills including algebra and trigonometry
  • Basic GD&T (Geometric tolerance) understanding
  • Basic use of shop tools (Micrometers, Calipers, Height gages, Dial indicators)
  • Basic knowledge of transducers, transducer to PC interface methods, columns, computers
  • Must be able to read Mechanical, Pneumatic & Electrical blueprints
  • Expert level communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Active listener who is assertive, authentic, and communicates with open mindedness, empathy, and clarity
  • Ability to evaluate and estimate build hours and create build plans.
  • Cross functional understanding of all aspects of the build process for automotive tooling.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of Metrology tooling or vision application experience.
  • Experience setting up and commissioning metrology or vision equipment
  • Ability to business travel domestically and internationally
