R&D Software Specialist

Objective:

A great opportunity has become available for a software developer to work as part of a driven team of professionals. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, be able to work as part of the team and have excellent communication skills, being able to communicate complex issues to both technical and non-technical audiences with strong knowledge of IT systems and software. The team is responsible for the VECTOR camera platform, which includes SPECS3 Average Speed Camera systems, and police ANPR, amongst other developments both in the UK and internationally.

Key Responsibilities:

• The software developer will be responsible for developing, testing and maintaining software in order to meet client’s needs and new product development.
• To write, test and maintain software and associated documentation to specifications agreed with the    stakeholders.
• To undertake ancillary tasks associated with the development, deployment and marketing of products and systems. Demonstration, technical support and commissioning of programs and systems at client and business partner sites.
• To work at all times in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and to follow all company procedures and guidelines which assist this.
• To work at all times in accordance with the company’s policies.
• To undertake such other duties as may be required within the general scope of the job.

The post holder may also be asked to support and undertake other related duties not listed in this job description from time to time according to the needs of the business.

Requirements

Essential:

• Experience with C++ in an embedded environment.
• Experience with Linux development, preferable on an embedded platform
• Experience with Python application development
• Some experience of OpenCV, STL, Boost.

Desired:

• Experience with Python Web frameworks or GraphQL
• Experience of working in an Agile environment.
• An interest in embedded systems, image processing & deep learning
