Located in Barrie, Ontario, we are a specialized industrial engineering firm focused on designing complex automation with a blue-chip customer base. Operating from two facilities totaling 200,000 square feet with 200+ employees; we are ISO 9001:2015 certified.

Are you an experienced Manufacturing or Procurement Specialist looking for an opportunity to take your career to the next level? Do you have experience working in a machining, welding, or tooling environment (specifically automotive)? Do you have a passion for production analytics and process improvement?

If you answered YES to these questions our Manufacturing and Procurement Specialist position might be the perfect fit for you!

 

Supported by a state of the art Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) environment, you will coordinate required activities that occur before, during, and after purchases. In this role, you will report to the Production Manager.

 

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Production Manager, Manufacturing Co-Ordinator, Team Leads, and employees.
  • Make necessary adjustments to ensure productivity targets are met.
  • Use of computer systems to track and analyze data.
  • Create Reports using IFS - Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Tool.

Key Accountabilities:

 

  • Contract Negotiation
    • Negotiator extraordinaire – able to secure the best pricing, terms and delivery options for each product or service.
  • Print Drawings
    • Print required drawings to assist Engineering and the Production Department.
  • Create Purchase Orders
    • Create and review RFQ’s and flag price and timing concerns.
    • Process purchase orders.
  • Facilitate Engineering Changes
    • Update revisions to parts and assemblies in IFS as required by the Mechanical Design Leads.
    • Co-ordinate with Machine and Fabrication Shop and contact suppliers of the changes to minimize impact.
    • Inform the Production Department and provide updated drawing packages.
    • Expedite and kit materials for each individual ECN.
    • Assist Customs Co-Ordinator with BOM and documentation for shipping.
  • Cost and Vendor Analysis
    • Obtain goods at the right cost to ensure company profitability.
    • Work with CI Manager and Production Manager to track vendor performance and implement actions for continuous improvement.
  • Expedite
    • Ensure follow-up on time sensitive orders and proactively check on status to eliminate late orders.
    • Communicate with suppliers and up-date timelines as necessary.
    • Up-date any changes in delivery times into IFS.
  • Interact with Multiple Teams
    •  Work closely with the projects team to understand details of procurement requirements.
  • Inventory Control
    •  Oversee the inventory of raw materials or other goods, and place orders when supplies run low.
    •  Process overflow parts and excess inventory and direct the materials to vendor for return, scrap, or Global Inventory.

 

Experience and Technical Skills:

 

  • Minimum 3+ years direct working experience automation integration or Manufacturing
  • Mechanical Engineering Technician/Technologist Diploma or relevant experience in of the following trades: General Machinist, Tool & Die Maker, Mold Maker, or Millwright would be considered.
  • Good understanding of other project disciplines
  • Ability to add value, reduce costs and make business improvements.
  • Knowledge and technical understanding of engineering and manufacturing processes and techniques
  • Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to engage, negotiate and manage key stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Resilient, self-motivated, and able to work well under pressure.
  • Skilled using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)Tool, prefferably IFS
  • Skilled using EXCEL
